OPEN PIT TECHNICAL SERVICES SUPERINTENDENT

About the Role

WorkPac are currently seeking an  experienced Open Pit Technical Services Superintendent for a permanent, ongoing role residentially based within Kalgoorlie.

Working closely with our client's Open Pit Manager, you will be responsible for coordination of the Open Pit Technical team including Survey, Geology, Mining Engineering and Geotech to achieve operational excellence in the Open Pit Department.

Responsibilities will Include:

  • Involvement in Safety activities (safety and toolbox meetings, safety presentations) and proactively promote NGFâs Zero Harm policy.

  • Mine optimisation and identifying business improvement opportunities within the operating mines.

  • Instigate new opportunities within Operations including new pits alongside geology to improve on plan.

  • Operational annual budget preparation including physicals and financials and resources.

  • Monitoring quality standards and compliance to annual business plan and explaining variances monthly.

  • Train and mentor subordinates to succeed in their tasks and identify skill gap for further training and development.

  • Working closely with the Corporate Technical Services team in consultation with Open Pit Management team to complete;

  • Open pit long term planning, projects evaluation and development. Duties include Open pit scoping study, feasibility study,

  • infrastructure and pit design, LOM scheduling and cost analysis and Open pit projects management.

  • Review applications of different mining methods and the impact on the economic viability of operational of the project and recommend changes as required.

  • Completion of business case process, including data collation, report preparation and approvals.

  • Deputizing as Quarry Manager as required.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Mining Engineering (Mandatory).

  • Current unencumbered C/HR Western Australian Drivers Licence (Essential).

  • Senior First Aid (Desirable)

  • First Class Managers Certificate/Quarry Managers Certificate (Desirable but not essential).

  • Experience in use of Surpac and Minesched (Preferred but not essential)

  • Minimum 5 yearsâ experience relevant in Australian Open Pit Mining Operations

  • Current Drivers Licence

  • Right to work in Australia
