Portfolio Planning Analyst

About the Role:

WorkPac are seeking Portfolio Planning Analyst to work with our local council based in Logan, QLD. This position is a Monday to Friday Roster for an initial 6-month duration, potential for extension. The role supports the project portfolio planning including the development and maintenance of the portfolio schedule, resource commitments, portfolio capacity and financial planning.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership - Apply and share subject matter expertise required to enable delivery of EPMO outcomes. Promote and champion a culture of learning and growth where ideas and knowledge are shared and staff are committed to professional and personal development.

  • Portfolio Planning - Work with portfolio planning and business resources to develop and manage meaningful information about the portfolio with a view to deliver an optimised and balanced portfolio. Support the shaping, alignment, and start-up activities of strategic initiatives. Provide significant expert input into and maintenance of the portfolio plan with specific regard to master scheduling, resourcing commitments, estimating and financial forecasting.

  • Stakeholder Management - Apply effective and engaging interpersonal skills to ensure complex concepts are communicated in plain language. Build collaborative and respectful relationships with key project managers and stakeholders. Develop, implement and manage a range of appropriate communication methods to ensure regular and consistent messaging is delivered to stakeholders.

Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in relevant fields such as business management, project management, human resources or similar.

  • Credentials and / or certification in relevant fields such as project and portfolio management, change management, agile methodology (e.g. PROSCI, Agile fundamentals, Management of Portfolios, Prince2, Managing Successful Programs).

  • Membership with relevant industry association or peak body (e.g. Project Management Institute, Change Management Institute, Asset Management Council, CPA).

  • Extensive experience supporting portfolio planning activities.

  • Knowledge of the breadth and complexity of project / program / portfolio management (P3M).

  • Experience within a public sector environment, preferably within a local council? (highly regarded).

  • Demonstrated experience in a portfolio office or similar function communicating, liaising and building trusted relationships with staff across organisational boundaries.

  • Strong time management skills, self-motivation with the ability to remain innovative under pressure.

  • C class driver's license.
