What you will be doing
Reporting to the Purchasing & Repairs Coordinator, your primary purpose will be to place authorised Purchase Orders with approved suppliers on behalf of our clients business customers. This entails converting authorised Purchase Requisitions to Purchase Orders and selecting the most appropriate supplier to source from.
As the successful candidate, you will be required to negotiate price where applicable i.e. not already covered under a contractual arrangement. In addition, you will need to ensure delivery terms are consistent with contractual arrangements; items under contract are purchased from the contracted supplier as well as expedite Purchase Orders to ensure agreed delivery dates are met.
This challenging role requires a committed, effective and positive person to join a dynamic team who deal with a high volume of work.
What you will need
To be successful for this role you would need to have proven experience in purchasing processes and be competent in the use of SAP and Microsoft Office business programs. It will be ideal if you possess a sound understanding of supply systems. Excellent and effective communications skills and attention to detail are essential to the success of this role as well as your dedication and commitment to the safety culture. Prior experience in mining or heavy industry is desirable but not essential.
