About the Role:

Coordinate and provide best practice advice regarding environmental approvals and activities for Synergy projects, to ensure a consistent approach and continual improvement in environmental performance.

• Develop, implement and promote strategies programs and activities to ensure legal compliance and conformance to ISO 14001 to improve environmental performance.

• Plan and manage environmental approval applications for proposed projects, ensuring projects meet environmental requirements.

• Manage environmental studies as part of project approvals.

• Provide environmental management leadership, guidance and advice to environmental team members.

• Environmental Policy and Strategy

• Collaborate with the environment team in the development of environmental strategies and improvement plans.

• Develop and implement environmental initiatives.

• Monitor and communicate the effectiveness of environmental initiatives.

• Environmental Management System

• Develop, review and update environmental procedures, objectives and targets in collaboration with environment team and key stakeholders and provide recommendations.

• Facilitate and/or participate in guiding aspect and impact assessments of projects.

• Provide technical advice for environmental approvals for projects.

• Coordinate and develop environmental studies and approvals for projects.

• Improve existing processes, systems, and outputs through continuous improvement.

• Report on key metrics and data analysis to identify trends and areas for continuous improvement in environmental performance.

• Provide input into monthly and quarterly environmental and project reports for the GLT, ELT, board and HRSC.

• Environmental Management Programs and Plans

• Develop environmental management plans to address key environmental aspects and impacts relating to projects.

• Prepare scopes of work for environmental studies and approvals.

• Manage and supervise environmental consultants and contractors.

• Provide technical expertise to ensure contractor environmental management plans are consistent with requirements and meet environmental protection requirements.

• Liaise with environmental regulators, industries, industry bodies, organisations on environmental issues and projects.

• Environmental Performance Monitoring

• Assist in identifying controls for project and construction environmental impacts.

• Review consultant environmental reports to ensure required standards are met.

• Undertake audits and inspections related to environmental approvals and construction environmental management.

• Environmental Training and Awareness

• Provide technical input into key training and awareness.

• Provide support and technical advice to senior management in the identification and management of environmental issues and impacts.

• Present environmental training and awareness sessions to key stakeholders.
